Why Art Department is Awesome

Always make sure it fits before your purchase it.

Grass needs watering.

Safety first with the art department!

RIP two retired tree planters.

Flowers from the props guys! Soooo nice.

Rusty-Joe

Went on a bit of a rust-hipstamatic rampage...

Something about man made items being so dramatically aged, is so attracting.

Weekend Road Trip

Saturday Night: fire by the river growlers-guitars-goodness.

Road Trip! To Campobello Island. Which, is in fact apart of Canada, yet you must drive through Maine in order to get there.

The significance of the island, other then its beauty? The famous Roosevelt cottage, where Franklin Roosevelt spent many summers as a boy and continued the tradition by spending every summer with his family beneath the large spruce trees, on the rocky beaches, nestled by the Bay of Fundy waters.

Roosevelt was the American president during the depression. This famous photo is of a single mother with 7 children. It is clear that she has been through hell and back but isn't given up, although she is uncertain of the future.

May 2-4 Sunburnt Weekend

Fantastic flowers from Nick - an amazing gift.

I'm in business. Cards are ready!

The famous Fredericton Market on Saturday. Delicious tasty treats very where you look.

Beautiful St. John river that runs through Fredericton.

May have done a little bit of shopping... vintage second hand store, yes please!
Who can say no to a onezie that fits you perfectly?

Day to Day Happenings

Built a quick tree.

Horse, on some rocks.

Found some bones. Thought they would make for a nice set decoration.

Discovered this in the school house.

Co-Workers...

My boss and our head of greens, notice the bike in the back ground... told you, it's the mode of transportation.

Mr. Pig - coolest guy on set for sure. There are two other pigs here that are both pregnant. They auction the babies off in the fall. I'm tempted to return and buy one...

More Lambs, Always More Lambs

A family outing.

Did you know that!? Lambs are born with tails. And their tails are very much like dogs tails. When they feed on the milk from their mother they wag their frail frizzy tails in excitement.

When someone asks you if you want to hold a baby lamb, are you going to say no?

Mr. Smily here.

The Loose Canon - Modern Day young Couples

A recent observation of mine these days is that I’ve found it common, in these hard economical times, for young couples to fight through together. Due to the low number of jobs available and expensive living in all major Canadian cities. The high standards we (20-35 year old demographic) place on our selfs to have everything, look and dress a certain way, eat the right foods (organic/expensive), eat out don’t eat out, buy expensive coffee - it all adds up. We also feel high expectations from our baby boomer parents to succeed in this life, but at the same time “do whatever makes you happy hunnie” - thanks Mum.
So in my discovers I’ve noticed young couples achieving most of these events by sticking together; live together, rent is always cheaper when your sharing a bed. Grocery shop together, more affordable when your splitting the bill and it’s much nicer cooking for more then one person. And then theres the overall support; mentally and physically, in the sense that someone to help cook (or cook for you hehe), help clean, do laundry together. Young people are domesticating early in a modern sense being that majority of the individuals in the relationship that I’ve crossed paths with are/can be independent from there spouse. This is not because society is demanding us to domesticat, as like in the 60‘s, but because its giving us no choice in the matter.

Evidence: I was at the grocery store and my cashier was pleased to announce that he was getting off his shift in half an hour. I asked him why he was working? Maybe a strange question, but to me I’m always working for something; travel, school, just to live is a perfectly accurate answer as well. He said he was putting his girl friend through school, or rather supporting the living costs. And the plan is that when she’s finished she’ll return the favour. I hope it works out for them.
I am also currently living with a couple who have been together for two years now. And two years isn’t a very long time (in retrospect to my parents 25 years of marriage) to know someone. It’s definitely a personal choice to live together and by all means go for it. It also makes economical sense. What I found super cool was that they share a cellphone - how amazing is that!?

My own experience with this theory is with Mr. Bushman, who has been out in BC all year. Even though we are four provinces apart, a 5 hour flight, a 4 day drive and a 3 hour time difference - whatever way you want to look at, it its been amazing to have support all school year long.
Sooooo why not? I’m not saying every couple should shack up. But if the cookie crumbles that way then why not? You share the sam values, enjoy the same activities, can be independent from each other, why not save some money whilst trying to survive this jungle. No ones talking about marriage - theres enough time for that. It’s just a simple quick rant/theory on todays young couples.
